This handcrafted early autumn larch model brings the yellow-green to already slightly golden needle crown of the European larch during the first stage of autumn colouring to your model landscape. The trunk is, as on the prototype, needled almost down to the ground and the fine short shoots form a somewhat more open crown that is not yet fully coloured. Use this model as a striking solitaire, in small groups or together with beech, spruce and other conifers to create mixed and mountain forests on your model railway layout or diorama.
The European larch (Larix decidua), prototype for this model, is the only native European conifer that completely sheds its needles in autumn and comes into leaf again in spring. Its natural range lies mainly in the Alps and Carpathians; due to forestry planting it is now found in many parts of Europe, especially in regions with a subcontinental climate. Under favourable site conditions the species can reach heights of up to about 50–54 metres in nature. Choose the model height that matches your scale or follow our recommendation for your model railway gauge to recreate typical early autumn larch stands in miniature.
