The right accessories allow you to get the most out of your coreless motor conversion. In this category you will find shaft adapters, flywheels, pinions and worms that are tailored to use with coreless motors in model railway applications. The goal is smooth, low-vibration running and precise driving characteristics for your locomotives.
Shaft adapters connect motor shafts with flywheels and pinions when different shaft diameters have to be matched. This allows you, for example, to combine a motor with a 1.0 mm shaft safely with a flywheel or a pinion with a larger bore – without play and without time-consuming custom parts.
Flywheels noticeably improve the running behaviour of your models. They store kinetic energy, smooth out load changes and bridge short contact interruptions, for example on dirty track or at frog areas of turnouts. The result is gentle acceleration and braking and less "jerking" in operation.
Pinions and worms transmit the motor torque to the gear train. Carefully matched tooth profiles provide quiet running and suitable gear ratios depending on the desired top speed and tractive effort.
Important compatibility note: pay attention to the module
When replacing or purchasing new gear components, the gear module is crucial. The module essentially describes the "tooth size" of a pinion or worm and is specified in millimetres (e.g. module 0.3).
For clean, low-wear meshing, all gears and worms that work together must have the same module. Mixing modules (e.g. module 0.3 with module 0.4) leads to poor tooth contact, increased noise and faster wear – in the worst case the gearbox can jam or be damaged.
