The dead ivy mat from miniNatur® is a realistic material for representing dried climbing plants, withered hedges and overgrown ruins in H0 scale 1:87. Straw to grey-brown tones with subtle olive and umber nuances reproduce the impression of long-dried ivy leaves and stems and are ideal for abandoned buildings, disused sidings and autumn to winter scenes.
At the 1:87 scale, the finely tuned structure of the mat suggests a network of thin branches and shrivelled leaves that remains convincing even at close viewing distances. Torn into narrow strips, it can be used to create dry climbing vines on facades and retaining walls; in larger patches it is suitable for dead ground cover at the base of trees, along embankments or around derelict industrial buildings. Combined with green ivy mats, gradual transitions from living to dead vegetation can be modelled very effectively.
