All-Year Fir

This handcrafted model tree represents a naturally grown fir with a densely needled, slender conical crown that keeps its deep green colour all year round. The trunk is, as on the prototype, needled almost down to the ground, making the tree suitable for conifer and mixed forests in any season. Use this fir as a striking solitaire, in small groups or together with spruce, larch and beech to create realistic forest scenes on your model railway layout or diorama.
The European silver fir (Abies alba), prototype for this model, is an evergreen conifer native to the mountains of central and southern Europe. Its natural range extends from the Pyrenees and mountains of France across the Alps and Carpathians to the ranges of south-eastern Europe. It occurs mainly in montane sites between about 300 and 1 700 metres elevation and can reach heights of around 40 to over 50 metres in nature, with exceptional specimens approaching 60 metres. Choose the model height that matches your scale or follow our recommendation for your model railway gauge to recreate typical fir stands in miniature.
